PC Kills - Ask Bryant & Tuohey
I came across some blog commentaries on a Philadelphia Daily News piece by Michael Smerconish from last month. It describes how Michael Tuohey, a ticketing agent at the airport in Portland, Maine, met Mohamed Atta and Abdul Aziz al Omari the morning of the 9/11 attacks. Read the full story here.
Political correctness stopped Tuohey from acting on his instincts. In his own words:
If they don't look like Arab terrorists, nothing does.
But then nearly eight years of Clinton-era PC kicked in:
That's not nice to think. They are just two Arab businessmen.
So he let them board, despite the red flags: One-way tickets, very expensive one-way tickets ($2,500 - but no indication if they were paid for with cash), strange body language, looking like terrorists (oh sorry, how racist of me!) and so on.
Check out the various commentary on these blogs:

But this is my real point: Not one of the 300-ish comments linked to four blog entries listed post mention Johnelle Bryant by name, and only one alludes to her! Are we so quick to forget Bryant and her encounter with Atta at the USDA? Read about it in the Wall Street Journal Opinion Journal or the BBC.
